Verify

After completing the interconnect steps, you need to verify everything came up correctly and test the actual cross-cloud connectivity.

  1. Verify Routing — Poll both sides, confirm states, wait for AWS to go Available
  2. Connectivity Test — Ping EC2 ↔ GCE over the interconnect path

After Step 5 (VPC peering), you’re waiting on AWS to transition from pendingavailable. This typically takes 5–30 minutes. During this time:

  • GCP peering shows ACTIVE / Connected
  • GCP transport shows PENDING_CONFIG with adminEnabled: true
  • AWS interconnect shows pending (normal, keep polling)
  • GCP incoming routes show 0 items (normal until AWS is Available)

Once AWS shows available, routes exchange via BGP and you can test end-to-end connectivity.
